This site does not collect personally identifiable information about individuals except when specifically and knowingly provided by such individuals through the TaxSimple® software. Users of the TaxSimple® software can update their tax return information before sending it to the IRS.  This would be done by using your social security number and e-mail address to re-enter TaxSimple® software and make the appropriate changes.  However, once a return is filed with the IRS it is subject to the same restrictions as any other return filed with the IRS.  Please note, you cannot change the e-mail address or social security number used to identify you to the TaxSimple® software due to security restrictions. The information collected by the TaxSimple® software is not shared with any third party, excluding the relevant tax filing agencies assuming your tax return is filed using our services. All information stored by the TaxSimple® software to complete a tax return is stored on the offline server. During filing of a tax return, the TaxSimple software has a transient copy of your tax return, that is deleted upon acknowledgment of a successful transmission. Any personal information collected by the server side of the TaxSimple® software over the Internet is collected via SSL encrypted sockets and is stored in a secure database at our location. 

Except for purposes outlined above, we do not provide, sell or lease your personally identifiable information to any third parties from the TaxSimple® software, unless otherwise stated at the time of collection. Like most standard Web site servers we use log files.  This includes Internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site, track user's movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use.  IP addresses, etc. are not linked to personally identifiable information.

We require your social security number to provide you print and efile results. When you enter your social security number on our "View Tax Return" or "View E-File Results" page, we encrypt it using secure socket layer technology (SSL).
